Role overview

We are seeking an experienced L2/L3 Linux Operations Engineer to support and maintain enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Linux administration, troubleshooting production issues, automating operational tasks using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, and managing system lifecycle and patching through Red Hat Satellite. The role requires a strong operational mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high system availability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L2 operational support for RHEL 7/8/9 servers across Production, UAT, DR, and Development environments.
  • Troubleshoot OS, application, performance, storage, and network-related issues while meeting SLA commitments.
  • Perform user, filesystem, LVM, service, package, and security administration.
  • Execute OS patching, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management using Red Hat Satellite.
  • Manage Satellite components including Content Views, Lifecycle Environments, Activation Keys, Host Collections, Repository Synchronization, Remote Execution, and Subscription Management.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible Playbooks, Roles, Templates, and Job Templates to automate routine operational tasks such as patching, configuration management, user provisioning, and compliance checks.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize Ansible automation workflows and maintain automation code in Git.
  • Monitor system health, investigate alerts, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with L3 engineers, application teams, and infrastructure teams during incident, change, and problem management activities.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).
  • Experience administering Red Hat Satellite for patching, provisioning, and lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, including Playbooks, Roles, Inventories, Templates, Workflows, and Ansible Vault.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux administration, including LVM, XFS/ext4, systemd, SELinux, firewalld, SSH, DNS, NFS, and package management (YUM/DNF).
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM and Netmon.
  • Familiarity with VMware/KVM virtualization and basic cloud concepts (AWS/Azure) is desirable.
  • Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow and a good understanding of ITIL processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Master degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting enterprise production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Automation-first mindset with a focus on operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • RHCSA / RHCE
