Battery Cell Test Engineer - Durability
For our client, we're looking for a Battery Cell Test Engineer - Durability.
Description: At Electric Propulsion, we are proud to be a core competence center in Northern Europe for Li-ion battery technology and automotive battery systems. Our work helps shape future battery cell strategies and supports suppliers in developing tailor-made cells for Volvo Cars and other brands within the company. We are growing quickly in battery cell analytics, and this is a great opportunity to join an area where there is still plenty to build, influence, and improve. We believe in strong technical discussions and bottom-up decision-making, so your ideas and curiosity will matter from the start. The Cell Durability team is an international group with a broad mix of competences and experiences. We work closely across functions, which creates a supportive environment where you can learn quickly, ask questions, and grow together with others. We also enjoy spending time together outside daily work, whether it is bowling, shuffleboard or another activity at our next after work. We will make sure you feel welcome. This is us: Our team sets and follows up durability requirements for battery cells. We work with life prediction, service life estimation, and testing and verification to understand how cells perform over time and how their usage can be optimized to meet future vehicle needs. In this role, you will help us understand battery cell durability through hands-on test planning, coordination, data follow-up and analysis. You will work with cell test data, support conclusions on performance and ageing behavior, and gradually build deeper knowledge in life prediction, service life estimation, and durability requirements. Because our battery packs are designed and assembled in-house, you will be part of a close collaboration between several design and engineering teams. You will also interact with cell suppliers and work together with CAE, cell design, and integration colleagues. This gives you the chance to learn how battery cell durability connects to the complete vehicle, from early concept work to vehicle release. For future battery development, we also collaborate with universities and partners in electrification, giving you exposure to new knowledge, new technologies, and new ways of working. Examples of what you will do: * Plan, coordinate and follow up battery cell durability tests together with internal and external labs. * Help secure, structure and understand test data from suppliers, internal labs and external test partners. * Analyze cell test data using Python, MATLAB, Excel or similar tools, and share your findings in a clear and useful way. * Support the development of cell durability test matrices, test codes and follow-up routines. * Contribute to durability deliveries in vehicle projects, including requirement follow-up, service life targets and usage strategy discussions. * Collaborate closely with cell suppliers, labs, CAE, cell design and integration teams. * Prepare and feed relevant cell data to simulation and visualization tools. * Take part in improving our test methods, data analysis tools, documentation and ways of working. * Grow your knowledge in ageing mechanisms, life prediction principles and future cell technologies through hands-on work and support from experienced colleagues. What you'll bring: The battery cell is a key component, and many teams depend on our input. For this role, we are looking for someone with a solid engineering foundation, curiosity for Li-ion battery technology, and practical experience from testing, measurements, data analysis or laboratory work. You do not need to be an expert in battery durability from day one. What matters is that you are motivated to learn, enjoy working with data and want to contribute to a collaborative technical environment. You are comfortable working with test data and preferably have experience using Python, MATLAB, Excel or similar tools. You are analytical and structured, but also curious, open-minded and happy to solve problems together with others. This is a creative and developing field with many new areas to explore. If you enjoy learning, sharing knowledge and turning complex information into practical insights, you will have many opportunities to grow with us. You may have worked with battery cells, battery testing, electrochemistry, materials, laboratory testing, data analysis or another relevant engineering area. Experience from automotive electrification is valuable, but not required. We are especially interested in your ability to learn, collaborate and turn test data into useful engineering insights. We believe you will bring some of the following: * An engineering degree or equivalent experience in electrochemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, data science or a related field. * Practical experience from testing, measurements, laboratory work or validation of batteries, cells, components or similar technical systems. * A genuine interest in Li-ion battery cells, data analysis and automotive electrification. * Some understanding of battery cell behaviour, electrochemistry, degradation, ageing or cell design, or a strong motivation to learn more. * Experience structuring and analyzing test data using Python, MATLAB, Excel or similar tools. * The ability to document results clearly and communicate findings to different stakeholders. * A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from colleagues, suppliers and cross-functional teams. * Previous experience with battery cell testing, durability testing, test rigs, data acquisition or supplier test data is a strong advantage.
PLEASE NOTE!
Volvo Cars require that an adequate background check has been completed prior to the start of the assignment, meaning that you, as the supplier, must have conducted the requested level/-s of background check as soon as possible after your candidate has been chosen for the assignment.
If any deviations or discrepancies occur, the supplier should inform Ework and the candidate should not be moving forward in the procurement process.
This particular assignment is marked as: “Not Sensitive”
In the attached file/-s you will find info about the required background check/-s.
Volvo Cars reserves the right to request evidence of completion of these checks according to their expectations for the duration of the contingent worker assignment at Volvo Cars.
Ework offer to conduct necessary background check for a fee, please reach out for more information if interested.
