Senior Data Scientist

Assignment Overview

We are looking for a senior Data Scientist consultant to develop analytical models and decision-support tools for electric vehicle asset management, pricing, residual value, lifecycle planning, and portfolio risk.

The assignment combines data science, business understanding, and practical engineering. The consultant should be able to take ownership of broad and sometimes ambiguous problems, turn analysis into usable tools or model services, and communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Prior experience from electric vehicles, batteries, leasing, or asset management is valuable, but not required. The most important requirements are strong data science capability, practical implementation skills, and senior judgement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain models for usage, remaining useful life, residual value, pricing, lifecycle forecasting, and portfolio risk
  • Translate operational vehicle and business data into practical recommendations
  • Define, test, and document model assumptions, limitations, and uncertainty
  • Build analytical prototypes, simulations, dashboards, APIs, or other decision-support tools
  • Work with data engineering to ensure reliable data, data quality checks, and trustworthy outputs
  • Productionize models through scheduled jobs, cloud functions, APIs, tests, versioning, and monitoring where relevant
  • Support customer, finance, sales, product, and partner discussions with clear data-driven analysis
  • Create structure in ambiguous problem areas and help drive work forward in a small team

Required Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, economics, or a related field

Must Have:

  • Strong Python skills for modelling, data analysis, testing, and production-quality code
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with analytical data platforms
  • Experience building models or analytical tools that support real business decisions
  • Experience taking ownership from business problem to analysis, model, implementation, and stakeholder adoption
  • Cloud experience, such as deploying or operating data products, APIs, scheduled jobs, model services, or similar workloads
  • Ability to work with imperfect data and make sound judgements about data quality, assumptions, and business impact
  • Practical engineering mindset, with the ability to move from analysis to working tools or services
  • Clear communication with both technical and business stakeholders

Nice To Have:

Experience with electric vehicles, batteries, telematics, battery health, remaining useful life, leasing, residual value, or asset management

AWS experience

Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, versioning, or monitoring

Experience with pricing, forecasting, financial modelling, risk metrics, or portfolio analytics

Experience building internal tools, dashboards, simulations, model APIs, or decision-support applications

Personal / Soft Skills - important

  • Senior individual contributor with strong self-leadership
  • Takes initiative and creates structure in unclear problem areas
  • Pragmatic and analytical
  • Able to balance model quality, speed, and business usability
  • Able to challenge assumptions constructively
  • Communicates complex topics clearly
  • Comfortable working in a small team with broad responsibilities

Other Specifications

The consultant is expected to help turn analysis and models into credible, maintainable, and usable tools or services

The role requires senior judgement, ownership, and delivery capability more than narrow prior domain knowledge
