2 positions for Cloud Developer - GitLab to GitHub migration

Cloud Foundation's GCP team is migrating its source code repositories from GitLab to GitHub, including the associated CI/CD pipelines, integrations, dependencies and processes. We are looking for two experienced consultants to join the team, execute the migration and ensure a high-quality handover.

Scope:

• Analyse existing GitLab CI/CD pipelines and their technical dependencies
• Rewrite and adapt the pipelines to GitHub Actions on the target GitHub platform
• Ensure build, test, deployment, security and other automated processes keep working after migration
• Execute the repository migrations from GitLab to GitHub
• Identify risks, technical challenges and blockers, and work proactively with relevant stakeholders to resolve them
• Verify that repositories, access, integrations, workflows and CI/CD are operational after migration
• Work closely with the Cloud Foundation GCP team to understand the current repository landscape, processes, tooling and migration plans
• Document findings, decisions, configurations and migration procedures, and transfer knowledge and responsibilities to the team so it can continue to own the platform
• Expected delivery: repositories successfully migrated, CI/CD pipelines rewritten and validated in GitHub Actions, technical solutions and procedures documented, and knowledge effectively transferred to the GCP Cloud Foundation team.

Required experience:

• CI/CD in both GitLab and GitHub, including working with their respective APIs
• Google Cloud Platform
• Terraform
• Scripting in Python and Bash
• Complex enterprise environments with multiple technical stakeholders
• Agile and collaborative ways of working
• Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the assignment requires close cooperation with the GCP Cloud Foundation team.
