Cybersecurity Engineer

Our client is looking for a Senior Security Engineer to support and strengthen its security operations. This is a hands-on contractor role focused on vulnerability management, detection engineering, security automation, incident response, and cloud security across Azure and AWS environments.Role Responsibilities
  • Drive and improve the vulnerability management lifecycle, from discovery and triage to remediation tracking and verification.
  • Automate security workflows, including SLA alerts, finding assignment, escalations, and KPI reporting.
  • Build, tune, and maintain detections using detection-as-code and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks.
  • Design and optimize SIEM ingestion, normalization, enrichment, retention, and cost management processes.
  • Develop SOAR-style playbooks to automate alert triage and response activities.
  • Strengthen Azure and AWS security posture, including IAM, network security, and secure-by-default practices.
  • Partner with engineering teams to streamline remediation through automation and improved workflows.
  • Support incident investigations, containment efforts, and post-incident improvements.
  • Maintain security metrics, reporting, and incident response runbooks.

RequirementsEssential
  • Senior-level experience in at least two of the following areas:
    • Vulnerability Management
    • Detection Engineering
    • Security Automation / SOAR
    • Cloud Security
  • Strong SIEM experience, including detection tuning, log onboarding, enrichment, and cost optimization.
  • Hands-on scripting and automation skills (Python or similar).
  • Experience integrating security tools through APIs and webhooks.
  • Cloud security expertise in Azure and/or AWS.
  • Ability to prioritize findings and alerts based on risk and business impact.
  • Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, self-driven approach.
  • Availability to work remotely with overlap during core CET business hours.

Nice to Have
  • Deep expertise in Vulnerability Management or Detection Engineering/SOAR.
  • Experience with Defender for Cloud, AWS Inspector, or other CNAPP solutions.
  • Familiarity with IaC, CI/CD security, and cloud-native telemetry.
  • Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, or similar compliance frameworks.
