For our client Volvo Cars we are looking for a Quality Engineer – ConX Product Development.

Location: Gothenburg (Hybrid)

Department: Software & Electronics / ConX

Type: Full-time Assignment

About the Role

We are seeking a Quality Engineering Lead to elevate software quality and delivery predictability within the ConX product area. This role is hands‑on and system‑level—far beyond coordination. You will own and drive quality outcomes across teams, suppliers, tooling, and ways of working (WoW), ensuring continuous improvement and reducing systemic risk across the product landscape.

Key Responsibilities

1. Continuous Improvement & Ways of Working

Lead data‑driven quality improvements using the ConX Continuous Improvement WoW.

- Identify, analyze, and drive improvement investigations.

- Coordinate cross‑functional workgroups to actionable outcomes.

- Improve test effectiveness, automation signal quality, and CI/CD feedback reliability.

- Ensure findings enter and progress through the improvement backlog.

2. Targeted Quality Assurance (TQA)

Address root causes of quality issues and structural gaps in testability, reliability, ownership, and technical debt.

- Perform analysis using ConX’s TQA framework.

- Break down issues into Root Cause Heatmaps and risk/gap clusters.

- Document measures such as improved verification coverage, testability improvements, and ownership clarifications.

- Define and support risk‑mitigation features in Jira.

3. Software Quality KPI Implementation & Follow‑up

Ensure that SW Quality KPIs accurately reflect product health and customer impact.

- Analyze KPI applicability across ConX product areas.

- Define improvement actions and track KPI status.

- Align KPI development closely with TQA outcomes.

4. Gap & Risk Analysis

Expand quality analysis beyond formal TQA efforts.

- Conduct fault‑clustering and defect‑pattern analysis in the codebase.

- Identify code hotspots, code health improvement needs, and relevant metrics.

- Detect ownership, process, or tooling gaps.

- Feed results into Continuous Improvement or TQA improvement streams.

5. Coordination & Progress Management

Ensure that all quality-related investigations and initiatives are aligned and efficient.

- Maintain a unified improvement backlog.

- Prevent duplicated efforts across overlapping topics.

- Follow up on agreed improvements, escalate risks, and challenge priorities when needed.

- Provide objective, data‑based recommendations for release readiness.

6. Application of Ways of Working

Apply and reinforce existing WoW concepts in areas such as Maintainer & E2E Responsibility and QA Activity WoW.

- Support teams in understanding and applying the WoW.

- Contribute to improvements of WoW documentation and practices.

7. Participation in ConX Hubs

Actively contribute to relevant Hubs in ConX’s Hub & Spoke model.

- Support alignment on verification responsibilities, WoW topics, and quality/test strategies.

- Help balance over‑tested or under‑tested areas.

- Participate in defining or establishing new Hubs when required.

What You Bring

- Strong background in software quality engineering, continuous improvement, and system-level quality ownership.

- Experience with CI/CD, automation, defect analysis, and test strategy.

- Ability to analyze complex quality issues and drive investigations to clear, actionable outcomes.

- Skilled in cross-functional coordination and stakeholder alignment.

- Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, and modern software engineering practices.
